Coach Tyrone Wheatley
University of Michigan and NFL Oakland Raider great Tyrone Wheatley poses with a fan, and he is now being strongly considered for a coaching position with Team Michigan. An offer has been extended, and we look forward to Ty being a leading coach on the Fontes staff. See, Tyrone's Highlight Reel from the U. of Michigan. After playing his final NFL game on November 28, 2004. Wheatley returned to Ann Arbor, Michigan where he volunteered as a track coach for the University of Michigan in 2005 while finishing up his Bachelor's degree in sports management. In November 2006, Wheatley was hired as both the head football and the head track coach at his alma mater Robichaud High School.
Wheatley was initially only hired as the track coach, but after taking Robichaud to their first conference title he was hired by popular demand as football coach too. To prepare for his role as a football coach he partook in Jon Gruden's NFL minority coaching internship (Tampa Bay Bucs). As Dearborn Robichaud High School football head coach (2007), his team achieved it's first berth in the Michigan state Class B playoffs in 13 years losing in the 2nd round; but, finishing 9-2 only one year after going 0–9!
